Jaisalmer · Sam · Rajasthan
Our own cars and our own drivers, with a fixed fare agreed before you get in. Station and airport pickups, a full day of city sightseeing, the run out to Sam, and one-way drops across Rajasthan.
Taxi service in Jaisalmer
The taxi side of Moon Star grew out of the camp. Guests needed picking up from the railway station, then a day in the city, then a drop to Jodhpur — so we put our own cars and drivers on the road rather than handing people to whoever was waiting outside the station.
That means the driver who meets your train is the same one who takes you out to Sam and brings you back, and there is one number to call if anything changes. Our drivers are local, they speak Hindi and enough English to be useful, and they know which road is closed and which dhaba is worth stopping at.
Fares are agreed in writing before the trip and include fuel, tolls, parking and the driver. Nothing is added at the end, and there is no meter to argue about. You do not have to be staying at the camp to book a car — plenty of our taxi customers never come to Sam at all.

The fleet
All fares include fuel, tolls, parking and the driver. Luggage space is the thing people forget — tell us how many bags you have and we will put you in the right car.
Why book with us
If you are also staying at the camp, it is usually simplest to book the car and the stay together so the timings line up around your train.

Taxi FAQ
It depends on the car, the distance and whether the driver waits for you. We do not publish fare tables because fuel and season move them, but you will get a fixed all-in figure on WhatsApp before you book, with no toll, parking or driver charges added later.
Fixed, and agreed before the trip. Taxis in Jaisalmer do not run on meters. The number we quote includes fuel, tolls, parking and the driver unless we state otherwise in writing.
Yes. Most trains from Delhi, Jaipur and Jodhpur reach Jaisalmer between 5 and 11 am, and the driver waits on the platform side with your name. Send us your train number and we will track it if it runs late.
The airport is about 15 km from the city, roughly 25 minutes, and about 45 km from the camp at Sam, roughly an hour. Jaisalmer airport runs seasonal flights, so tell us your flight number when you book.
It is a 40 km run, about an hour each way, and the fare depends on the car and whether the driver waits overnight or returns. Ask us for your date and we will give you a fixed figure, or book it as part of a stay at the camp.
Yes. One-way drops are common and priced as such rather than as a round trip. Jodhpur is about 285 km and five hours, Bikaner about 330 km, and Jaipur about 560 km, so an early start is worth it.
Yes, for local use in Jaisalmer or for a full Rajasthan road trip. Multi-day hires are quoted per day with a stated kilometre limit, and we tell you upfront what happens if you go over it.
Yes, on the fares we quote. You do not pay a separate driver allowance or night charge, and that is written into the quote before you agree to it.
An Ertiga for four or five with moderate bags, an Innova for six or for long outstation runs where luggage space matters. Two people with two suitcases fit comfortably in a Dzire. Tell us the bags, not just the people.
Cash, UPI or bank transfer. For local runs payment at the end is fine; for outstation trips and multi-day hires we usually take a small advance to hold the car.
A few hours is usually enough for a local run or a transfer to Sam. Outstation drops, tempo travellers and cars during the Desert Festival should be booked a day or more ahead.
Our drivers speak Hindi and enough English to handle directions, timings and the usual questions. If you want a proper guide for the fort and the havelis we can arrange one separately.
Send the route, the date and how many of you there are. You will normally have a firm figure within minutes.
