How our packages work

Jaisalmer tour packages built around a night in the desert

Every package on this page is built around the desert camp at Sam, because that is what we run. The tents are ours, the camels and jeeps are ours, and so are the cars in between — so if your train is four hours late or the group wants a slower morning, we move things without asking anyone's permission.

Packages cover the ground portion of your trip: accommodation, sightseeing, safari, the meals listed, and transport from the moment you arrive in Jaisalmer to the moment you leave. You book your own train or flight to Jaisalmer and we pick you up.

We do not publish fixed prices. Rates in Jaisalmer swing hard between December and June, a group of two pays differently from a group of eight, and any printed number is either out of date or padded to be safe. Send your dates and group size and you will get a firm figure in writing on WhatsApp that we will honour.

Not sure which one?

Two days and two nights is the sweet spot

One day for the city and the havelis, one afternoon and night at the dunes. It fits the overnight trains at both ends, it does not leave you rushing the fort at noon, and it costs less than most people expect.

One night works if you arrive on the morning train and leave the next evening. Four days only makes sense if you want Longewala and Tanot, which is a long but memorable drive.

Sample itinerary

Two nights in Jaisalmer, planned around the light

Two mistakes cost people the best of Jaisalmer: doing the fort at noon when it is hot and the light is flat, and leaving for Sam at five, which means watching the sunset through a car window.

This order fixes both. It is the 2 nights / 3 days package written out day by day, and it is the schedule we run most often.

  1. Arrival and the city

Pickup from the station or airport, check in to your hotel, then Gadisar Lake in the late afternoon and the fort lit up from a rooftop after dark.

  2. Fort, havelis and Bada Bagh

Jaisalmer Fort early, Patwon Ki Haveli and the Salim Singh and Nathmal havelis before lunch, then Amar Sagar and Bada Bagh for the last hour of light.

  3. Kuldhara, Sam and the desert night

Late morning drive west with a stop at Kuldhara, reach the camp by four, camel or jeep safari, sunset on the dunes, folk evening, dinner, bonfire and a night in the tents.

  4. Sunrise and departure

Sunrise over the dunes if you are up for it, breakfast at the camp, then the drive back to Jaisalmer in time for a midday train or an onward car.

Camel herders on the dunes near Kanoi village at first light

Early morning

Chai with the camel men

First light on the sand with the men who look after our camels, before the day-trippers arrive. Nothing staged, and the tea is better than the camp's.

Village life near Kanoi and Sam in the Thar Desert

An hour or two

Walk through a desert village

Kanoi and the hamlets around it: mud-and-thatch houses, goats, a well, and how people actually live 40 km into the Thar.

Rajasthani thali of dal baati churma served in the desert

On request

Dal baati churma, properly

Baati cooked in the coals rather than an oven, with ker sangri when the season allows. Ask a day ahead and the kitchen will make it for your group.

Manganiyar folk musicians performing in the Jaisalmer desert

Evening

A private folk session

The full troupe for your group alone rather than the whole camp — khartal, dholak and voices that carry across sand without a microphone.

Ruins of Kuldhara, the abandoned village near Jaisalmer

On the way to Sam

Kuldhara, with the story

The village abandoned in the 19th century, walked slowly with someone who grew up hearing the local version rather than the tourist one.

Night sky over the Thar Desert at Sam Sand Dunes

Clear nights

Sleeping out on the sand

Ride out in the afternoon, dinner cooked in the open, and a bed on the dunes under a sky with no light for forty kilometres. Winter only.

Package FAQ

Questions about Jaisalmer tour packages

How much does a Jaisalmer tour package cost?

It depends on the number of nights, the tent or hotel category, the size of your group and the season. Rates move sharply between December and June, so we quote a firm figure for your exact dates on WhatsApp rather than publishing a price that goes stale.

How many days do you need in Jaisalmer?

Two days and two nights is the sweet spot — one day for the city and havelis, one afternoon and night at the dunes. One night works if you arrive on the morning train and leave the next evening. Four days is worth it only if you want Longewala and Tanot.

Do packages include train or flight tickets?

No. Packages cover the ground portion — accommodation, safari, meals as listed and the car. You book your own travel to Jaisalmer and we pick you up when you arrive.

Can we customise the itinerary?

Yes, and nearly everyone does. The packages here are starting points. Tell us what you want moved, added or dropped and we will rework the plan and the price.

Which is the best Jaisalmer package for a couple or honeymoon?

The couple package with a Royal tent: a quieter corner of the camp, a private camel ride to a dune away from the crowd, and dinner served separately if you prefer. Tell us in advance if it is an anniversary or honeymoon and we will set the tent up for it.

Do you handle group and corporate bookings?

Yes, including tempo travellers or a bus, a block of tents held together, a private cultural programme and a buffet scaled to the numbers. Give us as much notice as you can for large groups in the winter season.

Is an advance payment required?

For dated bookings, yes. An advance holds the tents and cars, and the balance is settled during the trip. We confirm exactly what is due before you pay anything.

What is your cancellation policy?

The cancellation window and refund depend on how far ahead you cancel and whether the dates are peak. We state the policy on your booking confirmation before you pay, and peak dates such as the Desert Festival and New Year carry stricter terms.

Can you pick us up from Jodhpur or drop us onward?

Yes. We run cars between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Jaipur and Mount Abu, either as a one-way drop or as part of a longer Rajasthan road trip.

What is included in a Jaisalmer sightseeing day?

A car and driver for the day covering the fort, Patwon Ki Haveli, the Salim Singh and Nathmal havelis, Gadisar Lake, Amar Sagar and Bada Bagh. Monument tickets and guide fees are paid at each site and are not part of the package.

What is the best time of year to book a Jaisalmer package?

October to March. December and January are the busiest and coldest, February brings the Desert Festival, and October, November and March give you comfortable weather with fewer people and lower rates.

Do you offer budget packages as well as luxury ones?

Yes. The same trip can be run with a Deluxe Swiss tent and a simpler city hotel, or with a Royal tent and a better hotel. Tell us your budget and we will tell you honestly what it buys rather than quoting the top option first.
