What a night here actually looks like

Written down so there are no surprises. These are the real timings — winter times in brackets where they differ.

  1. 3:30 PM

    Check in

Welcome drink, tent handover, luggage carried for you. Vehicles reach the tent door, so there is no walking through soft sand with bags.

  2. 4:45 PM
    (4:15)

    Camel safari to the dunes

About 40 minutes out. Anyone who would rather not ride goes by jeep — same dunes, same sunset, no extra charge.

  3. 6:20 PM

Sunset, then tea on the sand

We stop away from the main dune cluster, so the photographs do not have forty jeeps in them.

  4. 8:00 PM

Folk music and dance round the fire

Manganiar musicians and Kalbeliya dancers, about an hour. Family audience — no bar dancing, no tip-collecting routine at the end.

  5. 9:15 PM

    Dinner

Rajasthani thali, buffet, veg and non-veg. Salad, curd, pickle, papad and a sweet are part of it, not extras. Jain and no-onion-garlic on request when you book.

  6. 10:30 PM

    The sky

Lights go low. Charpoys are set out behind the tents for anyone who wants to lie back. On a new moon you can see the Milky Way with no equipment at all.

  7. 6:15 AM

Sunrise ride, if you asked the night before

Optional and free. Tell us at dinner and a camel will be saddled.

  8. 7:30 AM

    Breakfast, till 10:00

Hot, cooked to order, not laid out cold at seven and left there. Check-out is 11 AM.

Questions people ask

How far is the camp from Jaisalmer city?

About 42 km, on the Jaisalmer–Sam–Dhanana road at Kanoi. Roughly 55 minutes by road. We pick up from the railway station, the fort and the airport in our own vehicles.

Are the tents air-conditioned, and is there hot water?

Deluxe and premium tents are air-conditioned with an attached bathroom. Hot water runs 5:30–11:00 AM and 5:00–11:00 PM. Outside those hours, tell reception and a bucket comes within fifteen minutes.

Is bedding provided for an extra mattress?

Yes — its own sheet, pillow and blanket. Children under ten are free. An extra adult is charged per person and that includes meals.

What time is the camel safari, and what time is breakfast?

The safari leaves at 4:45 PM in summer and 4:15 PM in winter. Breakfast runs 7:30 to 10:00 AM, cooked to order. A sunrise ride at 6:15 AM can be arranged if you ask the night before.

How cold does it get at night?

December and January nights drop to 4–8°C and it can frost before dawn. Tents are heated on request and we provide extra quilts. Bring a jacket even if the day was warm.

Is there mobile network and electricity?

Jio and Airtel work at the camp; other networks are patchy. Power is on a mains connection with generator backup, and there are charging points in every tent.

What is the cancellation policy?

More than 7 days before arrival, the advance is refunded in full. Between 7 and 3 days, half is refunded. Within 72 hours it is not refundable. Refunds go back to the original payment method within 7 working days.
